The Most Spectacular Shows in Paris

Paris Fashion Week started à la grande with two super-spectacular shows: Dior and Saint Laurent. For Dior, that translated into some impressive numbers: 80,000 pieces of mirror, 7.2 tons of coated concrete, 20 days of labor-intensive installation, and a workforce of 80 people! The extraordinary show space was built in the gardens of the Musée Rodin and was inspired by a fourteen-acre sculpture park built by artist Niki de Saint Phalle. Maria Grazia Chiuri's collection for Dior featured 80 pieces meant to celebrate inspirational women in the arts and get the fashion focusing on feminism. Models showed up on the catwalk wearing ’70s patchwork jeans, leather jumpsuits, black pantsuits, sparkly glitter mini dresses, mod boots, and Mary Jane shoes. Few...

Ralph Lauren Show-Off Show

Now that NY Fashion Week is over, we can state this: the most extravagant show of the season was Ralph Lauren. Not only did the acclaimed designer decide to host the event in his private garage (displaying 26 of the rarest cars in the world) in Bedford Hills, 40 miles outside New York, but he ferried more than 250 top-class guests to the location in approximately 150 Mercedes S-class cars. Wow! But that’s not all, oh no, that’s not all. The entire event culminated with a dinner of lobster salad and burgers from Ralph's signature restaurant in New York, the Polo Bar.
